SPAM RECIPE CONTEST
Boy, am I full.

This year, they had us judge the Spam Recipe Contest and the Kid Chef Spam Recipe Contest (which is new), so that mean taking two bites of 28 different dishes. Imagine me eating a Costco sample size of 28 different things. I need TUMS.

People are so creative. The winner on the adult side was Pop 'Em In Your Mouth Spam Pot Pies. The taste was good, but they're also judged on originality and presentation, and those numbers helped put her over the top. Coming in after that were Thai Spam Lettuce Wraps, Spam Egg Rolls, and Spam Sushi. There were also Spam Enchiladas, several Spam Casseroles, and even Spam Hot Pockets.

Also, the kids did a good job too. First prize there went to Spam Won Tons (Do you think they knew I was Chinese?) Second was Spam Akopitas (little Greek sandwiches)... and third place went to a Spam Tater Tot Casserole.

I have to say Casey McBride of KUZZ is the best. She is so gracious, and so well known. She is a blast to host the contest with.

Well, I do the Dewar's Homemade Ice Cream Contest on Saturday. I've already given myself advice... pace yourself.

DANCING WITH THE STARS
ABC's Dancing With the Stars kicked off the first of it's three-night premiere with the special announcement that co-host Samantha Harris gave birth to daughter Josselyn Syndney Hess on Sunday. Filling in while Harris is on maternity leave is second season winner Drew Lachey.

The celebrity men sat out the evening while the ladies -- dancing either the cha-cha-cha or the fox trot -- graced the hardwood with their professional partners for the first round of performances. Jennie Garth and newcomer Derek Hough have pretty big dance steps to follow. Jennie's 90210 co-star Ian Ziering placed fourth on last season's show and Derek's sister Julianne Hough was last season's winner with Apolo Anton Ono. The pair proved to be contenders with a respectable 21 for their cha-cha-cha. Sports Illustrated model Josie Maran and partner Alec Mazo didn't fare as well with a fox trot that eeked out a mere 17 points. Cheetah Girl Sabrina Brown and newcomer Mark Ballas received the highest score of the night with a 26 out of 30 for their cha-cha-cha, while America's sweetheart Marie Osmond proved to be a viable hoofer when her fox trot with partner Jonathan Roberts garnered a 21. Scary Spice Melanie Brown and partner Maksim Chmerkovsky received a 24 for their cha-cha-cha, as did Doctor Quinn's Jane Seymour and Tony Dovolani's graceful fox trot.

The gentlemen will also dance either the cha-cha-cha or fox trot during the second night of the Dancing With the Stars tonight at 8:00 PM. The first round of eliminations take place Wednesday.
