WHEN DID THE CIRCUS STOP BEING THE CIRCUS?
Opening night of the Ringling Brothers/Barnum & Bailey "Bellobration" was last night at the Rabobank Arena. All week, PETA has been in town protesting the circus saying that the animals are treated unfairly.
Look, I am all for animal rights. I don't want to see an animal harmed or hurt, especially in the name of entertainment. I am also for freedom of speech... If you have something you want to protest, as long as you don't break any laws or infringe upon someone else's freedom while you're doing so, you won't get a complaint from me.
But c'mon... these animals are fed several times a day, are loved by trainers and medical staff who take care of them for a living, and while, yes, they are forced to perform-- are provided for above and beyond what the law asks for.
If you have a problem with the circus, don't buy a ticket... ask others not to buy tickets... but don't ruin everyone else's good time. It's the Greatest Show on Earth for goodness sake's!
